Our Family Portrait

Here's my family portrait for this year... such an ordeal that it can be done only once a year.  Can you believe how huge my family is?  It's so fun to have so many siblings, not to mention the BEST parents a girl could ask for.  Oh, and did I mention my amazing sisters-in-law?  My brothers-in-law are pretty great too.  I'm really proud of my family.. check out how beautiful it is.

This one is for the Ladies

I must say, this session had to be one of my hardest, but it was worth it!  Look how gorgeous these ladies are.  Each one of them has her own unique style.  It's a photographers dream to have subjects like this to work with... and can you believe that the woman with the blond bob is my Mom?  Wow, I hope I look that fantastic at her age.  All these ladies are part of my family - sisters, sisters-in-law and mom (minus two other beautiful sisters). Pretty good looking family, eh?

This session was done as a promotion of my new business model... fashion, editorial, couture.. and every session comes with hair and makeup, of course!  What woman or teen doesn't want pictures like this?  Everyone wants to feel like a supermodel for a day - to have images that look like they belong in a magazine.  It can be hard to feel pretty with how busy and crazy life gets.  On the bad days you can pull these images out and remember how fabulous you are!

Zwick Family... aka the next Jonas Brothers

This has got to be one of my all-time favorite sessions.  Never in my life have I seen boys this fashionable, confident and charming.  Their skills in front of the camera could put supermodels to shame!  They made my job easy.  At their age they already have developed a sense of style and self.  They idolize the Jonas Brothers... maybe that's where they're getting all these moves!  I'm sure it doesn't hurt that they have a Mom with perfect style sense either.  Little sis was sleeping for most of the session and we finally had to wake her up... big mistake!  Note to self, never wake a sleeping toddler from a nap.  Luckily we still got some great shots, even with all the scowls.

Fredrick Family

It was my first time photographing this darling little family of toe heads (or at lease some of them!).  I love these families with all blond children because I know this is what my family will eventually look like.  I can't get over how beautiful the girls are!  ..and their brother was so patient and helpful throughout.  Mom came prepared with props and extra accessories which makes ALL the difference. Thanks for that!

MacFarlane Family

Great session, was super easy.  It's refreshing working with families with mostly older children... they actually stay where you put them!  Mom is a film photographer and very talented.  The kids were so natural - I love shooting other photographers families.

Rachel & Sammy

Check out these teen model hopefuls.  It originally started as a best friends session but turned into a "test" commercial shoot for JLife Haircare (amazing hair product, btw).  I'm so happy with how the photos turned out.. these girls knew how to work the camera!  Tell me, what 13-year old girls have photos of themselves like this?

Officially My First....

post, that is.

I've been wanting to start a blog FOREVER but never got around to it... like so many other things in my life. Start photo blog, check. Now the challenge will be to keep up with my posts... fingers crossed!

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Carlan McBride and I'm a photographer, in addition to many other things (or so I like to think). I specialize in fashion and editorial styled portraits. I love to create and style images that look ready for a magazine spread.
